The Art of Making an Impact
The Guerrilla Girls symbolize freedom fighters who push forward a movement of change, empowerment, and social justice. They demand for those who support their movement to make an impact on society of their own. Using art to promote social change is one method but there are hundredths of approaches to making a difference that can be done through social media, marketing, volunteering to stand up for your beliefs. Complain, ask questions, and do not let others change a personal passionate opinion you have.
- Think of a social or political topic that makes you angry, upset,or want to stand up and put a stop to it. Know your movement and the purpose behind your actions.
- Understand and educate yourself about what you are pursuing. Whether you are passionate about:
- Environmental change,
- Animal abuse, homelessness, or
- Transgender equality
- Diseases
- Politics or
- Children
3. Make your movement known through social media accounts, use your resources, and use the internet for promotion. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snap Chat are all popular accounts that will help show the world what you are fighting for. Use the newspaper, classrooms, host workshops, and reach out to your coworkers, everyone should be aware that you are leading a movement.
4. Communicate with the public in person, through messages, and help them comprehend the importance of what you feel. Ask for assistance and be open minded to the opinion of others.Reach out, collaborate, and network to meet others who feel as strongly as you do to advance the movement.
5. Make a blog, social media accounts. and use digital pictures to enforce your vision. Create business cards, pamphlets, or brochures to give out to people in the street and at events that you attend.
6. Not everyone will be on board with you, will be as supportive, or stay with you long term but as long as that fire is within you and the ambition is still driving your actions then your dream must be pursued. Encourage others but be understanding that not everyone will view certain topics with the same perspective as you do.
